Event description
Free online information & network session for those interested in supporting people living with dementia to access nature and the outdoors

About this Event

If you have an interest in supporting people living with dementia to access nature and the outdoors, we are offering free online information sessions for staff, volunteers and organisations.

As parks, gardens, farms and other outdoor spaces begin to reopen and we emerge into a ‘new normal’, this session will help you start thinking about planning a nature-based programme or get ideas on how to adapt and develop your existing activities during this time of social distancing.

(Note: To get the best from your Time in Nature session we recommend you book into the first module of our Dementia Skills Sessions - Thinking Differently about Dementia - available weekly - see

Research shows that connecting with nature or getting outdoors improves health and wellbeing and can slow disease progression. At this current time we are being told that people with dementia are feeling more isolated than ever, with the closure of their usual clubs, activities and outdoor experiences. This session will help you start thinking about what is needed to set up nature-based supported experiences, that can improve the wellbeing of all involved.

In each 1.5 hour session we cover:

  • Why now, more than ever, connection to nature and the outdoors is essential.
  • The health and wellbeing benefits of connecting with nature for people with dementia and family members.
  • How to reach people in your community.
  • How to make your environment more inclusive
  • Resources to support your knowledge on nature connection and outdoor experiences.

You will have the opportunity to ask our experienced trainers individual questions while joining with other professionals in a similar situation.

Time in Nature Dementia Skills Sessions are FREE to attend but booking is essential. Book your session below. Due to high demand we have a limit of 2 spaces per project/organisation.

This session is appropriate for any individual who supports people living with dementia to get outdoors including staff and volunteers at green space organisations, care farms, care homes, carer groups and other organisations providing support.  If you are unsure whether it is appropriate for you, please get in touch.

Other free sessions COMING SOON in the Dementia Skills Programme include:

●        Managing Risk - Let Adventures Happen

●        Mood & Motivation – Getting Out & About

If this session inspires you to take the next steps in planning your outdoor programme, consider including Dementia Adventure in your planning and funding applications.  We can provide tailored training and support for staff and volunteers in your setting. Please contact
