Dementia is a growing, global challenge as the population ages it has become one of the most important health and care issues facing the world. Whilst Greater Manchester (GM) has much good practice and has made improvement, the need to make bigger improvements and change on a wider footprint is compelling. It is critical to the success of devolution in Greater Manchester that we address this challenge . Greater Manchester have committed, as one of the early priorities of devolution, to a 5 year transformational programme (Dementia United) for improving the lived experience of people living with dementia in Greater Manchester.
A plan has been developed during Aug 2015 – Oct 2016 with the involvement of people living with dementia, stakeholders from across the health and Social care system, 3rd sector and academic partners; it outlines five focus areas (pledges):
Pledge 1 - to improve the lived experience of people with dementia and their carers
Pledge 2 - to reduce variation
Pledge 3 - to introduce a post diagnostic support model for people living with dementia
Pledge 4 - to co-produce and re-design health and care systems with patients and their carers
Pledge 5 - wider technology adoption
Please note the event is a continuation of Haelo’s annual flagship unique experience event ‘Haelo Hosts’ which brings people together to challenge thinking and inspire actions. Our 2016 conference will allow innovators and quality improvers to connect with each other to positively influence the delivery of public services, restore hope and become agents for change.
Agenda to follow.
We look forward to seeing you there.
