Democratising Investing
Event Information
About this Event
Join us for this interactive session about investing for beginners!
We believe that investing isn't merely for the wealthy, but that there are barriers to getting started. So we invite you to learn more about this elusive topic with us.
We decided to run this informal learning session after confirming our hunch that relatively few of us invest (aside from our pensions). Yet, with interest rates at all time lows and inflation devaluing our money, investing is a key way to build wealth over the long term.
This session is aimed at people that aren’t yet investing, but either want to, or are curious about doing so. You may lack confidence or not know where to start.
At the event you will:
- Reflect on your current attitude and aspirations towards investing
- Understand the basics to get started on your investing journey
- Explore some myths about investing
- Explore key concepts such as compounding and your personal risk appetite
At the end you will feel more confident and equipped to take the next step towards investing.
NB - we are not financial advisers! We are two people who invest and want to make investing more inclusive and less daunting so that more of us can be financially secure. We will not advise on what to invest, however we will point you to sources of guidance.
We are charging a small fee which will go towards a crowdfunding campaign for a friend of Sarah’s who is struggling financially while she undergoes treatment for cervical cancer. More info here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-jo-recover-from-cancer
