About this Event

Tuesday 3rd March 2020

Doors open 6.15pm for 6.40pm start. Refreshments provided.

First Floor Suite 16 (TH1-16), Lambeth Town Hall, SW2 1RW

This evening will cover two related topics:

1. Demographic Developments and Pupil Places

With many of us worried about pupil numbers, particularly falling rolls and a mobile population, Lambeth has already reduced the Published Admissions Numbers (PANs) for five primary schools for next year. This talk will discuss the wider expected changes in pupil numbers and their demographic profile, and how this will impact our schools and our budgets.

Speakers: Maggie Harriott, Assistant Director Education Strategy, Inclusion and Outreach, Lambeth & Karen Osborne, Pupil Place Planner, Lambeth

2. Sources of School Funds

What are the sources of funding for schools in Lambeth? How is the money allocated from central government and how does Lambeth allocate it to schools and to special projects? What are the expectations for the future? We are all increasingly concerned with finance and balancing school budgets. In this session we will learn how the process works and can discuss what Lambeth and individual schools are doing to influence it.

Speaker: David Tully, Lambeth Education Finance

About The Lambeth Governors’ Forum

The Lambeth Governors' Forum aims to promote the highest quality education and best outcomes for children in Lambeth through a network for local governors to learn together and share our experiences. We host events that allow experts to share their knowledge and give governors the ability to discuss topics and best practice in the borough.

We are run by volunteer Lambeth governors, for Lambeth governors. We are non-profit making, self-run, strictly non-partisan and have no formal ties to Lambeth Council or to any other organisations. Our only expenses are for venues and speakers for events. We are open to all governors of schools in Lambeth. That includes maintained schools, academies, nurseries, special schools, primaries, secondaries and sixth form colleges.
