Demonstration: Dress in a Day
Wed 29 March 2017, 11:00 – 16:00 BST
Join in watching costume pathway volunteers from across the Fashion and Access to Fashion Programmes in a live performance to relive how an 18th Century dress is created enitrely by hand from scratch in a single day.
See how authentic techniques from the Age of Enlightenment and all the underpinnings of a true Georgian Lady are applied to create the dress by draping the actual fabrics on a live model and then hand sewing all seams.
Learn how the patterns are cut, the order in which they are put together and how the dress is trimmed and decorated.
Explore the exciting offerings available over a wide range of courses from Costume Design to Corsetry to Fashion History.
The fashion students will work under the guidance of Morley tutor Daniel Kinne.
The event is part of the exhibition Made2017: Material and Matter.
