Event description
Demystifying Brownfield Land Development – 1.5 day workshop

About this event

Demystifying Brownfield Land Development – A 1.5 day workshop for Black Country SMEs

12th/13th October 2021

University of Wolverhampton Springfield Campus

A fully funded workshop to introduce Black Country SMEs to brownfield land development.

The Brownfield Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC) extends an invitation to eligible* SMEs to submit an expression of interest to attend this knowledge transfer workshop to introduce them to brownfield land development. This is aimed at companies considering development but who are cautious or concerned about the complexities that can be associated with brownfield sites.

The number of invitations are limited so quick uptake of this offer is advised.

Once you have submitted your expression of interest a member of the BRIC team will contact you to chat through the workshop content and walk you through the process to attend as this will require some documentation to be completed.

Any questions you may have before signing up can be directed to Janet Bayley:

j.bayley2@wlv.ac.uk

Workshop Structure

It is planned that the 1.5 day workshop will include:

• Advantages and disadvantages of developing brownfield sites

• Legislation and regulatory requirements (including planning)

• Design of site investigation, site reconnaissance and types of investigation

• Risk assessment

• Options for remediation, techniques available and potential costs

• Funding availability and options for brownfield land development

The workshop will be repeated, so if you are not successful in your application to attend this event, you will be contacted for the next one.
