Demystifying IRAS
Date and time
Location
Online event
This session will attempt to demystify the IRAS application process!!!
About this event
IRAS is the Health Research Authority's (HRA) online ethics application system. It is used for research projects working in or through the NHS and social care organisations. The University tends to sponsor IRAS applications for doctoral research (staff projects are usually co-ordinated by Trusts alone).
This session will attempt to demystify the IRAS application process. This will cover:
- The purpose of IRAS
- How it meshes with SHU ethics
- Tips on completing the form and avoiding common mistakes
- Expectations on timing
- Sources of support
The session will probably be most useful for staff newly or likely to in future be supervising doctoral students who will be undertaking projects in the NHS/with NHS patients.
It will be facilitated by Mayur Ranchordas (University Head of Ethics) and Keith Fildes (ethics and governance lead in RIS).
