Event Details

As part of the government's commitment to tackling hate crime and building stronger communities, you are invited to an integration roadshow to be held on Tuesday 3 March, from 10am - 1pm at Birmingham City University.

The roadshow will be an opportunity for local people to take part in facilitated discussuions about issues that affect them in their communities, such as policing hate crime, role of faith in schools, diversity and faith and the role of the media. It will also be an opportunity to find out what the government is doing on promoting community integration and tackling hate crime. 



9.30am: Event registration (Baker Building Foyer)

10am - 11.15am: Roundtable discusion (including refreshments) covering the following topics: 

  • Policing and hate crime
  • Role of faith in schools
  • Diversity and faith
  • Role of the media

11.30am - 1pm: Panel debate and Q&A featuring the below speakers: (more panellists to be confirmed) 

  • Panel Chair, Imran Awan: advisor for the Cross Working Group on Anti-Muslim Hatred and Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Birmingham City University 
  • Lord Ahmad: Minister for Communities and Local Government 
  • David Urquhart: Bishop of Birmingham 
  • Faeeza Vaid: Executive Director Muslim Women's Network 

This event is guest list only. The inviation is not transferable. Please RSVP by Thursday 26 February via Eventbrite. A confirmation e-mail will be sent from Eventbrite, which you will need to bring with you to gain entry to the event. 



For parking please use postcode B42 2SU and follow signs to 'Student Car Park' - this is a pay-upon-leaving car park. If travelling by train the nearest station is Perry Barr, which is a 5 minute walk from the campus. A travel map can be found here
