Description



The walk follows the route taken by Charles Booth in 1899 to research his famous poverty maps and also features the wider history of Deptford.
Although not officially part of this walk, the Master Shipwrights House is open this weekend and walkers may wish to explore it after the walk.
Along the way we hear from Charles Booth, Captain Bligh, Christopher Marlowe, John Evelyn and many other writer and commentators.

Meet by the anchor near ASDA at the junction of the A2 and Deptford High St. Finish half way up High St at St. Paul's Church. Nearby stations are Deptford mainline, Deptford Bridge DLR and New Cross Overground. This is a three hour walk which finishes at on Watergate St. Check with Transport for London's Journey Planner for travel information.
