DeptfordFolk Winter Solstice Celebration: Mulled wine, merriment and morris dancing...
Join DeptfordFolk on Saturday 17 December to celebrate Winter Solstice. The main event takes place from 1pm at Festa Sul Prato but we've also arranged some volunteering opportunities in the morning for those keen to work up an appetite.
9am - 1pm - Volunteer at FareShare. Tour FareShare's London depot and spend a couple of hours volunteering at their warehouse on Blackhorse Road. FareShare redistributes surplus supermarket food to shelters, youth clubs and charities across the UK - this is all masterminded from their national HQ in SE8, one minute away from Folkestone Gardens. The capacity for this session is 25 people - please email email@example.com to confirm your place. It's fun and physical - and you'll get to wear a high-vis.
11am - 1pm - Planting bulbs in Folkestone Gardens. We have been given 1000 bulbs to plant! We need your help planting them so come and join us and members of Lewisham GoodGym to plant bulbs for us all to enjoy in spring. Meet at the cafe in Folkestone Gardens from 11am onwards. Bring a trowel if you have one!
1pm - 6pm - Sausages, mulled wine & music at Festa Sul Prato. Festive sausages and mulled wine at Festa Sul Prato, the lovely new cafe in Folkestone Gardens. Veggie and non-alcoholic alternatives will be available. Those who volunteer in the morning (and the first 50 people to complete a short questionnaire about local park facilities) will receive their sausages for free, for all others it's just £3. The usual menu at Festa Sul Prato will also be available. Carol singing from 1pm followed by entertainment from Dacre Morris Dancing Troupe. There will be a fire brazier outside to keep warm whilst we watch the morris dancers throw some shapes.
We'd like to have an idea of numbers so please register on Eventbrite to let us know you're planning to attend the afternoon event.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org separately if you'd like to take part in the volunteering at FareShare.
If you can't make it along to either part of the day please feel free to head down to Festa in the evening. Their licence has recently been extended until 10pm so the DeptfordFolk crew will be around into the evening. All are welcome!
