The Northamptonshire School Business Management Forum in partnership with Knowledge Cookie Education present:

"Deputy Heads, Middle Leaders Conference for Primary Schools in Northamptonshire – "Creative Leadership- How to energise your school" Thursday 9th February 2017 at Kettering Park Hotel & Spa 9.15 to 3.30pm"

Conference Objectives:

  • This Conference is an opportunity to engage with the big picture of what is happening in best practice nationally and reflect on the strengths of your schools and how to lead improvement, and to recognise and celebrate success.

  • Focused on strengthening leadership and understanding the importance of inclusive pedagogy to achieve educational excellence for all in Northamptonshire

Develop a peer coaching model of staff development in your school.

Help staff improve their teaching and results by creating a collaborative culture in the staff room and classroom. Using a simple 7-minute model for peer coaching staff will develop the skills to be an effective coach for their colleagues and pupils.

Improving through adversity

This session will provide a global and national perspective on the current educational landscape and focus on why education requires a new approach to school improvement. We will explore how multi-national organisations are adapting their system wide approaches to improvement in order to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

Learning Centred Leadership:

This session will focus on creating sustainable leadership growth through a model of empowerment; appreciative enquiry and action research. We will draw on the recently published Keeble Review to examine how the best schools are self- improving and learning oriented. We will explore practical examples for how to create this climate within schools.

Embedding a culture of deep learning.

This session will explore the differences between ‘mastery’ and ‘greater depth’. We will look at ways to build a culture of deep learning which connects curriculum design with moral purpose, problem solving and reasoning.

Relaxation and stress management for Senior Leaders

As a senior leader, you must possess the ability to negotiate calmly and reduce stress in others. This session will allow delegates to explore their own stressors and stress habits, consider their behaviour patterns and learn simple and effective techniques and exercises to begin to manage stress successfully.

The Speakers:


Rob Carpenter is Executive Head teacher of the Inspire Partnership in Royal Greenwich, made up of five local primary schools serving disadvantaged communities. Rob has been a Headteacher for over ten years and has experience of school leadership in a range of contexts.

As a National Leader of Education, Rob supported schools in challenging circumstances including those in special measures. He has a track record of rapid transformation and is passionate about school-to-school support. Rob’s schools are rapidly improving and Foxfield Primary School is one of only five schools nationally to move from an Ofsted category of Inadequate to Outstanding in just four terms. He is also currently working with the Teaching Schools Council and the Department for Education as part of their review team to ensure best practice in Primary Education. Rob is a fantastic blogger “Climbing the Hill”


Jackie Beere is a leading educational trainer and consultant, a former Headteacher, School Improvement Partner, Advanced Skills Teacher, AST Assessor, life coach and NLP Master Practitioner. She is also a successful author of many books including The Teacher Coach and The Perfect (Ofsted) Lesson. She was awarded the OBE for services to education in 2002 and has continued to help schools improve ever since.


Evthemonia Training and Consultancy was founded and is run by Jackie Lamb BA (Hons) PGCE MEd MIHPE.

Jackie is an experienced educational practitioner and began her career working as a primary school teacher. Since then she has worked as a behaviour support teacher and manager, as well as an FE lecturer. Jackie has spent a number of years training education professionals including trainee teachers, NQTs, Headteachers, Parent Support Workers, Learning Mentors and Teaching Assistants, as well as carrying out parent programmes for families.

Whilst studying for her Master’s degree at Cambridge University. Jackie investigated the impact of stress on children’s learning and has carried out research relating to stress in primary school playgrounds and its management through peer support. This led to Essex County Council publishing ‘Playleaders’ a resource for primary schools to support them to improve playtimes.

After completing training in CBT and relaxation skills at The Centre for Stress Management, Jackie went on to work with the University of East London and a number of schools to explore and research the value of relaxation in schools to promote access to learning and positive mental health. Jackie has published a CD-ROM entitled Relaxation in Schools designed to help teachers to introduce relaxation techniques in the curriculum at any key stage.
