About this event

About this event

Derbyshire and Derby have a major role to play in tackling the climate and nature emergencies. But do we have a skilled workforce to deliver the progress we need in the next decade?

To meet the Government's net zero ambitions, we need to decarbonise our industry, improve the energy efficiency of our buildings, provide electric vehicle infrastructure, increase the uptake of public transport and active travel and increase our renewable energy generation.

This Derbyshire Green Jobs Summit will showcase the huge potential to create rewarding, skilled genuinely ‘green’ jobs in the area and ask policy makers to respond to that challenge

Our panel of speakers will look at the challenges and opportunities for achieving the scale of green jobs we need to ensure sustainable careers and tackle the climate crisis.

We’ll bring together young job seekers, skills providers, decision-makers, trade unions, education sector and businesses together with residents from across the County to develop a shared vision for the future of the region and identify the challenges and opportunities to achieve this.

We have some great speakers lined up to help us, but we want to hear your voice too!

There will be opportunities to question and express your views.

Here’s our speaker line-up:

  • John Beardmore, Managing Director, T4 Sustainability Ltd
  • Laura Bishop, Director, Infinitas Design Ltd
  • Emily Bush, Matlock4Climate
  • Sian Davies-Vollum, Head of school of built and natural environment, Derby University
