Describe the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and public health impact of scabies.
Recognise the clinical features of scabies and differentiate it from other common skin conditions.
Demonstrate confidence in diagnosing scabies using appropriate clinical and, where necessary, laboratory techniques.
Select and implement evidence-based management strategies tailored to individual patients and specific populations that include:
- general measures
- treatment of the patient
- treatment of contacts
- persistent symptoms
- oral medication
Identify situations requiring specialist referral and ongoing follow-up.
