About this event

Discover the reality of life on the island past and present, indoors and out. Enjoy the gardens, grounds and amazing views.

Under the expert eyes of our qualified canoe instructors, pick up a paddle and climb aboard a very stable rafted canoe. On reaching the island enjoy a 45 minute guided tour of Pocklington's Georgian house and then explore the gardens and the rest of the island at your leisure.

Please note;

  • Walk 270m past the Keswick Lakeside shop (CA12 5DJ) and the launch jetties to our canoes - look out for the National Trust flag. Please allow 15 minutes to walk to the jetty from the car park.
  • Please wear clothing appropriate to the weather forecast as your visit takes place mostly outdoors. We recommend wellies or a change of shoes as you may get wet feet getting in and out of the canoe.
  • For safety this event is for ages 8 years and up. To ensure safe adult to child ratios we do not offer a family ticket for 1A & 3C. First canoes leave the foreshore at 10.15am and then at 30 minute intervals until 2.30pm, this final tour returning to the foreshore at 5pm. Your visit will last approximately 2½ hours.
  • This event involves getting in and out of a canoe and access through the house involves steps and stairs.
  • Families very welcome. The house tour is suitable for children aged 8 and above.
  • Assistance Dogs only are welcome.
