As part of Design Exhibition Scotland, DES Debates brings together key national and international designers and thinkers to exchange ideas with a wide public audience. DES Debates will contribute energy, ambition and fuel to a burgeoning interest in contemporary design, making and manufacturing across Scotland.
A series of panel discussions will be led by Prof Christopher Breward, Head of Collections & Research, National Galleries of Scotland with speakers including the celebrated London-based designers Max Lamb and Ineke Hans, the curator of contemporary design at the Boijmans Museum, Rotterdam, Annemartine van Kesteren; the Edinburgh-based artist and designer Geoffrey Mann and writer and journalist Grant Gibson.

Ineke Hans & Annemartine van Kesteren in conversation with Grant Gibson discuss Dutch design initiatives and design as instrument of change.
6pm All Sustaining
Max Lamb & Geoff Mann talk design & technology
7pm Provocations
DES curator Susanna Beaumont and DES exhibitors kick off a lively debate on the 'here & now' in Scotland.
