Event description

Description

Which eight photographs would you take with you to a desert island?

Celebrated club and street-style photographer, Derek Ridgers reveals his choices to our regular host Stephen Bull.

Loosely following the format of Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, our touring photography talks series invites artists, writers and curators to select which eight images they’d take with them to a desert island. Stephen Bull, discusses each castaway’s selection with them and discovers how their choices reflect their life and career.

Launched during Brighton Photo Biennial 2012, Desert Island Pics castaways include Martin Parr, Jeremy Deller, Alison Jackson, Sean O’Hagan and Anna Fox.

Derek Ridgers British photographer, Derek Ridgers has documented the perennial youth ritual of dressing up and going out since he first picked up a camera in 1973, and has been drawn to virtually every subculture London has spawned, from punk to the fetish club scene of the present. From early on his photographs attracted the attention of both cultural institutions such as London’s ICA and music and style publications such as the NME and The Face.
