Event description

Description

No prior rocket building experience required!

This session is suitable for everyone of any technical ability.

Jo Hinchliffe () will introduce the basics of amateur rocket principles and design in a short talk followed by instruction in using the OpenRocket () software. Jo will also cover how some of the more accessible fabrication techniques such as 3D Printing, Laser Cutting and CNC Milling can be used to build rockets.

Attendees will spend some time designing their own rocket in the software before running the software simulation to see how well it performs. We'll have an example built rocket for people to see and budding rocket builders can come to Makernights at DoES Liverpool (https://github.com/DoESLiverpool/wiki/wiki/Maker-night) to learn the fabrication skills mentioned to build their design for real.

You will need to bring a laptop that can run the OpenRocket application. This is pretty much any laptop running Windows, OS X or Linux. Note that the Android version of OpenRocket will not be suitable as it can only read designs not create them.

This event is 'Pay as you feel' There is no charge for the tickets, but you're encouraged to pay what you feel on the night to cover costs.
