The Janet Harvey Hall is a key element of the £300 million transformation of BAE System’s shipbuilding facilities in Glasgow. Named in honour of World War II shipyard electrician Janet Harvey, this project uniquely combines construction and civil engineering expertise. The hall spans 170 metres in length and 80 metres in width.

Phase one of the construction of the project involved draining and infilling, 5,000 metres of steel piles were installed. Phase two saw the construction of the hall itself, using over 6000 tonnes of steel and 20,000 cubic metres of concrete. A feature of the hall is it’s 33 metre by 54 metre door!

Our speakers will take us through the stages of the project, describing the various challenges and how they were overcome.
