About the Workshop

Design Day: Recycle and Redraw

Saturday 21 March 2020, 11AM-4PM

For children aged 11-15

Can our cities be reused and reimagined? What survives in the design of an environment and what can be changed to be more environmental? Architects think about the materials they use in construction to lessen the impact on the planet. As part of the design process, we too can make these same important considerations.

In this workshop participants will be challenged to shape spaces from recycled materials to create temporary canvases for digital designs. The structures will then be returned to their original forms, leaving the digital drawings as proof of their existence. This workshop explores the power of choice in the built environment and the many possibilities faced by architects creating new spaces in society.

This creative architecture workshop is led by educator Daniel Wallis for children aged 11 to 15 years.

Add section about the series here followed by the general info below

Based in London, mainly our HQ at 66 Portland Place, all participants must arrive by 11am. These workshops are led by professional educators and all materials are included in the ticket price, but lunch is not provided.

If you're under 18, tickets must be booked by a parent or guardian. Online booking in advance is essential and if we do not receive full registration information in advance of the event we cannot allow the participant to attend.

Some of our workshops involve a visit to an offsite location that is designed to enhance the learning experience and provide vital real-world context. Children are supervised by RIBA staff and volunteers at all times during such visits and location information is provided in advance.

To see other learning workshops taking place in this series, see our families and children page.
