Invitation to launch event
There is a rapidly growing interest in design thinking in central and local government and the contribution it can make towards addressing the challenges you face.
Key design principles, methods and tools such as understanding users’ needs, prototyping, visual techniques and working collaboratively can all be applied to service, system and digital challenges in the public sector to great effect.
To demonstrate these new ways of working, Design Council has developed the Design in the Public Sector programme.
This briefing session will introduce you to the full programme. Register to attend now.
The programme will offer practical coaching and participative learning to a number of public sector bodies. Participants will be asked to bring current and future service delivery challenges to the table. Using these real-life examples, you will be assisted by a service design professional over a 90 day period to develop innovative, user-centred design solutions.
16 participants from 6 organisations will be invited to participate, clustered around particular geographic and cross-sector issues. The cost of participation is fully subsidised.
What you will learn
Participants will be exposed to critical design leadership and supported in a peer learning environment to rethink and re-frame their challenges and identify fresh, design-led opportunities. You will also receive the targeted guidance needed to implement new activity and tangible project over a 90-day period and reconvene to share knowledge.
Councils can nominate up to three delegates to participate in this programme. Delegates should apply on an individual basis detailing their own experience and also identifying the organisation’s hallenge they wish to work on.
There are five delivery days, the first two on the 28 and 29 January 2015.
NB: Applicants to the full programme must be able to attend all days.
The remaining three days will be held on:
Day 30 – 19 March 2015
Day 60 – 30 April 2015
Day 90 – 2 June 2015
