Parkinson’s UK is a charity that holds a special place in the heart of Design Pit’s Creative Director, Gareth Robertson. For eight years, his mother Catherine has suffered from Parkinson’s and has bravely grappled with the life-changing condition. Since being diagnosed, life for Cath and the Robertson family has been very different, but Cath has been extremely brave and has not taken it lying down.
Early on, Cath and her sons, Gareth and Jamie, completed the inaugural Parkinson’s 10K run at the Nottingham Water Sports Centre. While Gareth and Jamie went on to raise money through various other challenges, such as the Three Peaks Challenge and the Liverpool Santa Dash, Cath has gone on to retire from her job as a supply teacher and has taken on a part-time role working with the County Air Ambulance charity. Her passion for life and dedication to whatever she sets her mind to are truly inspiring qualities; she simply refuses to let her condition beat her and is much happier working with the MAA charity, chatting to people on her rounds, and delivering and collecting cash pots all over the Midlands region.
