Description

COURSE OUTLINE

Hands on practical problem-solving project tackled in teams. The course is product and process driven to give you an experience of skills and knowledge that you can roll out in the classroom. National curriculum referenced. NB Nutrition and cooking not covered on this course.

COURSE OUTCOMES

  • Work in teams with an elected team leader
  • Follow a problem solving based design brief with time and resource constraints
  • Plan, communicate, negotiate, test ideas, evaluate, make necessary changes
  • Make as little waste as possible
  • Reuse and recycle
  • Use relevant technical knowledge and vocabularly
  • Create a final prototype or product on time
  • Present and promote your prototype/product to the market or dragon investor
  • Win a prize for the best team design
  • Deconstruct the days experience through discussion and:
  • Draw out implications for Design Technology in the primary school
  • Consider how children of different ages can access the subject
