Description

Why Attend?

This Workshop is designed for NHS executives and subject matter experts to come together with everis Health and IBM to explore digital innovation as the foundation for exporting Intellectual Property (IP). This is the conversion of 'brainware' into software - generating royalties worldwide for the NHS and its stakeholders.

Despite the constant negative news associated with the NHS, this is the opposite: an upbeat and open gathering to look at all things positive about the NHS - and how working with everis Health and IBM and applying Design Thinking can lead to win-win outcomes. Hence, the Workshop title: Design Thinking and Exporting NHS Know-How.

Workshop Detail

Design Thinking is all about solving complex problems in a people-oriented way. It is a pragmatic, hands-on approach to innovation. Design Thinking is being inquisitive: asking questions, challenging conventions. So, when it comes to the NHS, why don't we export it's know-how to the rest of the world?

The NHS is a vast and complex organisation, with a rich seam of health expertise. But this expertise is largely confined to silos of individual NHS Trusts. We want to show NHS executives and subject matter experts how we can enable the conversion of this 'brainware' into software. In practice, this means capturing and recognising the Intellectual Property (IP) converted into digital solutions, which in turn, we monetise on a global basis and where we pay recurring royalties back to NHS Trusts, CCGs and other owners of such IP.

So, for health organisations, what complex problems can be solved by applying Design Thinking? In turn, when we uncover complex problems, how can we solve them around the globe, by converting NHS expertise into useful, affordable digital platforms?

Firstly, we'll talk about two current examples we are working on today: Integrated Health and Social Care - and Maternity Triage. Secondly, we'll open up the meeting to an interactive conversation to talk about how we can work together with NHS Trusts and CCGs to nurture new opportunities and incubate new digital health solutions that solve problems on a global basis.

This 3-hour, hands-on session will get to the heart of how the NHS can export its expertise in novel ways to the rest of the world. We will talk about how a structured approach to Design Thinking can be adopted and sponsored by NHS executives.

This includes applying techniques, such as Empathy Mapping, to better identify both implicit and explicit critical health needs and define the journey from 'brainware' to software-based solutions, resulting in valuable export outcomes from the NHS.
