Design for X – Design for Manufacture and Assembly
Speaker: Prof. Raghu Prakash Vasu, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras

In this talk, Prof. Vasu will introduce the general principles of product design and “Design for X”, where X can be:
Design for Manufacture
Design for Assembly
Design for Reliability
Design for Environment and sustainability
He will also discuss materials selection for energy-efficient products and then focus on design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA)—how to design reproducible parts with minimum effort, cost and environmental impact.
This session will be particularly valuable if you are interested in:
Product and mechanical design
Sustainable and energy-efficient engineering
Manufacturing, materials, and industrial practice
Project, dissertation, or PhD topics in these areas
Prof. Vasu has over three decades of experience across academia, research labs and industry, with more than 100 journal/book chapter publications and extensive supervision of MSc, MS and PhD students.
