About this event
Suitable for creative practitioners, artists or those working with community groups. This workshop will help you put your great ideas down on paper, or outline how to get them started. Jennifer will outline the tools you need to be able to put in strong funding applications to various funders. It is about having a clear idea of what your project is, who it will benefit and how it meets the criteria of the funding. Having a strong project plan in place before you start to seek funding can make the process easier.
The workshop will cover the following areas:
- Getting clear on your project aims & objectives
- Learning about resources and budgets
- Creating timelines to keep you on track
- Assembling the dream team, working with other creatives, partners, stakeholders and volunteers.
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Being aware of risks and conflicts
Workshop Facilitator
This workshop is lead by Jennifer McGlone from Glow Arts. With over 20 years experience of working in the Creative Industries, Jennifer has had a diverse career in a variety of roles from music tutor, tour manager, Development Officer for charities, Local Authorities and Creative Scotland, Creative Consultants to Creative Entrepreneur. She currently runs Glow Arts a creative consultancy that works with creatives and community organisations to support them in the development of their projects and fundraising having secured over half million £ in the past 12 months. She is a Director of Braw Wee Emporium, an online Scottish Gift shop that works with over 20 small Scottish Businesses to showcase their and our own in-house products. Passionate about participation in arts and music, and these being a tool for community regeneration. Board Member of the Scottish Music Centre and Seall.

GCAN understands that this continues to be a difficult time for creative freelancers and those working in the Participatory Arts sector. We aim to make our events as financially accessible as possible. GCAN members receive a discount on the price of their ticket and it is free to become a member. If you are a Participatory artist or organisation working within Glasgow please feel free to sign up on our website: https://www.glasgowcan.org/members/sign-up/
We can offer a limited number of bursary tickets to those experiencing financial hardship. If you feel you would benefit from one of these tickets please contact us by emailing info@glasgowcan.org and we will reserve a free place for you.
GCAN is a non-profit organisation and all ticket sales go towards sustaining our professional development programme and providing financial flexibility to those who need it.

The Zoom link will be sent to attendees in advance of the event. For any technical problems, please email comms@glasgowcan.org
This event is for ages 16+ and will be held online. You will need a good internet connection and a laptop/computer/mobile device to join us.
There will be no more than 40 attendees and tickets are available on a first come first served basis. We encourage audience participation to ensure that you get the most you possible can out of the session. However at any point you are welcome to switch your camera and mic off to have a break from zoom.
If you have any specific access requirements please indicate when reserving a ticket and we will do our best to meet any requests. For example, we can arrange for a BSL interpreter if needed. Live AI generated captions are also available and instructions on how to enable these will be posted in the Zoom chat at the start of the session.
