Please only book this course if you are new to the DSL role, it is not suitable for delegates who have already completed DSL training previously. If you are an existing DSL who has moved schools you will be required to complete our DSL Refresher course.


This is an all-day course for newly appointed Designated Safeguarding Leads. Delivered as a face to face session, delegates will discuss and cover the roles and responsibilities of the DSL, statutory guidance that informs the DSL role, different forms of abuse and how to recognise and deal with concerns.

Objectives of the course:

• Understand the role and main responsibilities of the designated safeguarding lead

• Develop an awareness of how to promote a safeguarding culture

• Know how to use and manage your systems to effectively identify vulnerable children in your setting

• Know how to respond to allegations against staff and other professionals

• Reflect on the use of language when reporting and recording of safeguarding

• Topical Safeguarding Issues

• Develop an understanding of what Contextual Safeguarding is and how it relates to your role.

• Understand the multi-agency safeguarding system, processes and your role as a lead practitioner.


Course Cost: £150 per delegate, your setting will be invoiced for the advertised cost of the course
