This course is for those acting as Safeguarding Lead in their organisation or setting.

The course covers safeguarding issues relating to all age groups up to 18 years. We look at your role as Designated Safeguarding Lead in establishing a safe environment and safe working practices in protecting children and young people from harm and abuse.

The course will help you:

Understand role and responsibilities of a safeguarding lead

Explore related policies and procedures - including outdoor / risky environments

Understand how and when to refer to childrens social care

Explore issues around record keeping, sharing information and confidentiality

Put together a safeguarding action plan for your role and organisation

Is this course for me?

Some prior knowledge of safeguarding under 18's is essential. If you do not have this we would recommend attending our Introduction to Safeguarding and Child Protection course first.

If you work alone often or run your own Forest School / outdoor provision then you need to attend this course .

If you work with adults over 18 then you will also need to attend a Safeguarding adults course.

Session delivered by Mel Parr.
