Designing a Garden Border

Come join us in the fabulous surroundings of Grace & Favour Home lifestyle shop in Bovey Tracey, for an informative workshop on how to design your own garden border. We'll look at key principles when designing a new or existing border. There will also be some practical activity to produce a bespoke planting plan just for you - with information on plant types and quantities , for you to take home and put into action in your outdoor space. There will also be an opportunity to have an informal chat with your host, Garden Designer & Event Speaker, Jacquie. Don't miss this opportunity to get inspired and take your garden to the next level!

About Your Host

Jacquie Felix - Mitchell of Oasis Garden Desgin, worked in PR and Communications for many years, before retraining as a Garden Designer. She has designed gardens small and large in South Devon and beyond, gives virtual and in person talks at events and for various clubs and societies, and does design workshops for small groups. She has contributed to BBC Gardeners’ Question Time, written for a large national women’s organisation, and been featured in national publications. Jacquie hosted on the award winning Blue Peter Garden designed by Juliet Sarjeant at RHS Chelsea, and has given talks at Toby Buckland’s Garden Festival at Powderham. Based in Buckfastleigh, Jacquie is a member of the Garden Media Guild.

Frequently asked questions

Where Can I park?

There is some on road parking near the venue, which is free after 6 pm. Alternatively, you can park at Mary Street Car Park TQ13 9HE. This is less than a five minute walk from the venue.

What is Access to the venue like?

There are two steps up to get into Grace and Favour. The talk will take place on the ground floor. The toilette is on the first floor up a slightly winding staircase.

What Do I Need to Bring?

Information about the size of your border - in centimetres, which direction it faces, what shape it is. It is also useful if you know what type of soil you have - clay, loam, sand or chalk - and whether your soil is acid , alkaline or neutral. Don't panic if you don't know your soil type!

Do I Need to Bring anything else?

You can email one photo of your border to Jacquie at least TWO WEEKS before the event. The email will be given to you on booking. Thank you
