The third in a series of workshops around the process of creating a Civic University Agreement

About this Event

This workshop is intended to provide practical tools and best practice principles on engaging communities in your Civic Agreement and Mission.

It will offer a space to hear from those leading innovative community engagement projects, and for members to reflect and share learning about previous engagement projects and initiatives.

The session will be hosted by Emily Morrison (Head of Institute for Community Studies - The Young Foundation) and Paul Manners (Director-Policy, National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement) along with guest contributions from:

- Dan James, Development Director, Eden Project

- Nicola Gratton, Lead for Civic Engagement and Evaluation, Staffordshire University

- Dr Liam Harney, previously lead for Community Engagement, Big Local in Poplar and now Senior Researcher, Young Foundation

The workshop will have the following format:

Introduction

Guest Speaker: Community Engagement – what works and what doesn’t? Dan James will talk through the journey of the Eden Project embedding with Cornwall’s communities.

Masterclass

Principles of Community Engagement: shaping your Civic Agreement and University life – Emily Morrison, Head of the Institute for Community Studies

Case studies

Learning from community engagement in and outside the HE sector:

- Nicola Gratton, Staffordshire University

- Dr Liam Harney, previously Big Local, now Young Foundation

Q&A

for deeper discussion of themes and practices.

The webinar event will be hosted online via Blackboard, joining instructions are available on the 'Online event page' which you will gain access to after registration.
