Description

Public Sector Client Forum - Designing for a Changing Climate: Climate, Health & Place

Chaired by Ben Twist, Director Creative Carbon Scotland

On the 2nd of April, Architecture and Design Scotland invites you to explore how to plan places to make a step change in responding to the climate crisis and meeting the national carbon reduction targets. During the event we will take a creative look at how we can use design and collaborative placemaking to shape places that are climate ready, healthier, happier and support low carbon lifestyles.

The event will explore:

  • How we plan, design and develop places to effectively respond to a changing climate, reduce carbon emissions and improve people’s lives across Scotland?
  • Why should we put place and health at the centre of our approach to achieving a net-zero carbon Scotland?
  • What does a low carbon, climate considerate place look like?
  • How can we use design to help create a healthy and climate-ready place?

Comprising talks and mini-workshops on relevant projects from Scottish and UK organisations including Architecture and Design Scotland; Scottish Government; Zero Waste Scotland; Scottish Natural Heritage; Devron Arts; Collective Architecture; A Place in Childhood; Sustrans and Scottish Storytelling Forum. Additional speakers are to be confirmed.

Arrival / coffee & refreshments / registration 10.30 - 11.00am

The event on Designing for a Changing Climate forms part of our Public Sector Clients Forum series and follows a previous event on Intergenerational Housing & Age Friendly Places in June last year. The aim of the Public Sector Client Forum is to bring together a range of public sector, third sector and private sector representative bodies.
