Designing for all: accessibility in practice, with Zühlke AID-x Lab
By Zühlke Engineering
Overview
Join us for an evening focused on building accessible software and hardware solutions for everyone.
Dedicated to the International Day of People with Disabilities (3 Dec), join us at Zühlke for an evening focused on building accessible software and hardware solutions for everyone.
You’ll hear how our teams embed accessibility into the processes and product delivery – and then try it yourself in our AID-x Lab, rotating through stations that simulate visual, hearing and dexterity impairments.
Format:
- a 30-minute presentation about assistive technology, speaking about its evolution, impact, and how projects originally tailored as assistive technologies became mainstream and used for people in their day-to-day life. Speakers include:
- Caio Soares, Expert Business Analyst & People Lead
- Mariana Salvaterra, Head of Software Excellence & CEO Zühlke in Portugal
- 1-2 hours of open floor where you’ll be guided through assistive equipment to see, feel, and experience executing tasks as people with a disability would.
What’s in the AID-X Lab?
- Immersive simulations of visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive impairments: to help you step into the shoes of someone with accessibility needs and better understand the challenges they face.
- Live demonstrations of assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, and day-to-day devices: to show how they are used by people with accessibility needs.
- Hands-on experience: try the equipment yourself and take the opportunity to ask questions and share reflections.
