Reserved places

Please note that we still have a number of places reserved for people with lived experience who would like to share their experiences of attending consultations, workshops and other types of design events.

We want to hear directly from you: how did the process make you feel? Were you able to contribute fully? What could designers and event organisers do to enable you to participate more meaningfully in the future?

Join the waitlist or email DHCscot@alliance-scotland.org.uk if you would like to claim one of these reserved places.

Description

This is a practical free event sharing learning on how we can make the design process for services more inclusive and accessible. Particularly relevant to third, independent and public sectors as well as the wider public.

People should be at the centre of the service design process, involved from start (ideation) to finish (implementation) and beyond (evaluation).

The third sector in particular engages with very diverse communities, often with very specific needs around communication and participation. Therefore its services have to be developed with people, for people.

So we all think about making our services accessible, but what about the design process itself? Are we meaningfully involving people in our workshops, consultations and events? Are our tools, methods and communications inclusive, accessible and welcoming to everyone? And finally, is this happening consistently across sectors and boundaries?

Join us for a day of lightning talks, practical learning and open discussion where we will unpack these questions together. We will explore how we might work within the third sector and beyond to ensure that our service design approaches and processes are suitable, inclusive and empowering for all.

Organisers

This event is hosted by the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE) and delivered in partnership with deafscotland, LGBT Health and Wellbeing, Sense Scotland, Talking Mats and others as part of the “Fringe by Design” series of events: www.fringebydesign.com

Fringe by Design is organised by OneTeamGov Scotland and The ALLIANCE as an experiment in bringing people together from across sectors, communities and change disciplines to explore what is happening and what is possible when we work together and across boundaries to increase and deepen participation in public service design and delivery? Get involved in the conversation on Twitter: @fringebydesign using the #FringeByDesign hashtag.

Fringe by Design is open to anyone with an interest in sharing, connecting and challenging their professional boundaries and approaches to participation. If you would like to get involved in this event email us at DHCscot@alliance-scotland.org.uk.
