Event description

Description

Exploiting data to gain a competitive advantage is widely recognised as important but making the most of the data within a business requires the specialist skill set of a data scientist.

A data scientist is not just a data analyst; the knowledge of statistics and modelling, familiarity with new databases and tools and experience with data-driven ressearch projects allow them to ask the right questions to gain better insights.

This interactive workshop will cover the key principles and practices for a good data science project, and participants will come away with an initial project scope to iterate within their own organisation in just one day.

The workshop is run by Dr Alastair Moore, a lecturer at the UCL School of Management and Head of Analytics and Machine learning for Mischcon de Reya. An innovative computer scientist, he is also an experienced entrepreneur and passionate about new technolgies improving business practice.

The workshop is offered through ERDF, supporting tech startups in London to scale and grow. To apply for a fully subsidised place, please contact F.Rayner@ucl.ac.uk.
