Summary:
This workshop covers the essential skills required of HR and OD professionals to enable you to redesign areas of your organisation or department. It ensures that any redesign you are looking at, aligns the structure with key deliverables and overall strategy.
This highly practical workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to play the four key phases of a design project from analysing the need for a structure change to the evaluation of the project as a whole. It demystifies organisation design terminology and allows you to work credibly on restructures.
Over the day, you will gain hints and tips, get a chance to practise key stages of the design process and have a set of valuable tools and templates to take away.
Aims and Objectives:
This workshop will enable you to:
- Understand what drives redesign of operational areas
- Develop your own design approaches and skills
- Explore your role in the redesign process
- Increase confidence in facilitating key stakeholders through the redesign processes
- Increase awareness of the tools available in the toolkit
- Practise using organisation design tools using relevant case studies
- Increase personal and professional credibility
- Identify next steps for a future redesign
Target Audience:
HR or OD professionals who will be involved in operational redesign projects
Pre-work:
To bring along examples of organisational structures from their own organisation.
Additional Information:
As part of this workshop you will receive a full redesign toolkit. This will be emailed to you in advance of the workshop. Please print this out and bring it along to the workshop, along with some examples of structures from your own organisation or one you are familiar with.
Facilitator:
This workshop will be facilitated by Mary McCrea. Mary is an experienced HR professional with over 30 years corporate experience in senior HR positions. These roles have included Head of HR, Director of Talent and Head of Organisational Development. She has project managed significant organisation design projects as a result of mergers, takeovers and downsizing, starting with creating a business case, to creating new structures, right through to implementation and review., creating a Senior Leader Steering Group and recommending and implementing appropriate interventions to move the organisation to it's desired Culture.
She now uses this hands on, pragmatic approach to support clients with organisation design and development challenges in a consultancy and developmental capacity and runs Develop Global’s redesign workshops and projects.

Time: 9:30 start, finish 16:30
There are 35 places on this event. We want to ensure that all member organisations have access to our events. If an event is overbooked and the maximum attendance has been reached from a particular trust, the events team may need to cancel any further places that are booked. The team will then email individuals who have booked after the maximum number has been reached. See our event booking policy
In the event that you’re not able to attend, please let us know within 5 working days of the event or we will charge a £100 cancellation fee regardless of the reason given for cancellation or non-attendance. We know that there are many good reasons why people are not able to attend HPMA London events they have booked on, however the cost per attendee at an HPMA London Academy can be as much as £200. We use the income generated by cancellation fees to deliver our events programme in the next financial year. If you want to appeal against a cancellation fee, please contact the team for a copy of the cancellation fee appeal form which will need to be signed by your line manager and returned within 14 days of the event.
