In this one-hour webinar, presented by Jack Roscoe, Tech Champion for Audience Data Collection, you will learn the basics of designing your own audience or visitor surveys.
If your surveys aren’t giving you the insights you need, or you’re taking your first steps towards audience research, this session will help you create the perfect survey for your audiences and your organisation’s needs.
Suitable for cultural and creative organisations of any type, and covering techniques relevant to both digital and paper surveys.
You will learn:
- An overview of the most effective survey questions to ask to give you powerful insights.
- The fundamentals of survey design and research skills to ensure you’re collecting high quality data.
- Choosing the right platform for digital surveys: including Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, Illuminate and Impact & Insight Toolkit.

Beginner
This session will be ideal for those who want to improve their survey design and their data and insights, but are looking for more guidance on how to choose and write effective survey questions.
It also provides an overview of survey design basics, such as writing neutral survey questions to avoid bias or leading, the right types of questions to use in different situations, and using survey logic to present different questions to different people.

Live captions and BSL interpretation will be provided for this webinar. You will receive a copy of the presentation slides in advance. You can join and leave the online space as required, and choose if and how to participate in each element of the webinar.

Can I book a place?
This webinar is presented as part of a funded programme for creative and cultural organisations. Free places are available for anyone who works with or for a publicly funded arts and cultural organisation and for those currently in receipt of or usually eligible for Arts Council funding.

Can I receive 1-2-1 support?
The Digital Culture Network is part of a funded programme for creative and cultural organisations. We have a team of nine Tech Champions across the country, who can provide free 1-2-1 support in a range of areas including digital strategy development, websites, social media, data analytics, digital content creation, SEO and paid marketing, CRM, box office and ticketing systems and email marketing. This support is available for those currently funded by or usually eligible for Arts Council England funding.
