Desire Lines Workshop – Priorities and proposals
Date and time
Description
"Desire lines are pathways created by many people walking on the same course, creating a common route without the need for a prescribed direction."
How can Edinburgh keep culture at the heart of everything it does? In a fast-changing society, what are the ingredients of future success, and how can culture be used to attract more young people to make their lives here?
Desire Lines is an independent initiative in which Edinburgh citizens are invited to develop proposals for the city’s cultural future. At this workshop event, participants will discuss and build on the themes emerging from the project’s recent grassroots consultations. In a series of focused round-table discussions, participants will play a key role in outlining priorities and proposals for culture and artistic activity in the city.
This three-hour session will be presented by Scotsman columnist and theatre critic Joyce McMillan. Participants will be invited to contribute deliverable ideas and proposals around the key themes that have emerged from the consultation so far. Top-line results from the Desire Lines survey will be shared with the assembled group, with participants encouraged to share thoughts on which areas to prioritise and recommend ideas for action.
As The City of Edinburgh Council reviews its cultural policy, this is an ideal opportunity to feed in your views. Please join us and have your say.
We anticipate a high demand for tickets. We request that organisations only book ONE ticket in the first instance and check back nearer the time to book any further tickets. This will help to ensure a broad range of representatives to feed into the discussion.
