Description

3D printing is revolutionising the world of innovation, design and manufacturing. Whether you're wondering how to get your designs printed or already have access to 3D printers and need help on getting started, this workshop is for you.

For those already familiar with screen-based 3D design, we will cover the steps needed to convert your work into a format optimised for 3D printing, taking into consideration the wide variety of materials available.

For those of you less familiar with CAD, we'll be demonstrating free online tools that allow you to quickly turn your design ideas into 3D models suitable for printing.

And for those of you who simply with to use, adapt or customise some of the millions of 3D models already available for download from the internet, we'll show you how to find what you're looking for.

The workshop will cover:

  • Basic components and operation of a 3D printer
  • 3D printer filaments including electrically conductive filaments
  • Apps for creating and editing 3D models
  • Optimising your 3D designs for printing
  • Useful sites for downloading existing 3D models
  • Where to get models 3D printed
  • Complementary materials, tools and processes
  • Professional, multifunctional 3D printer pen
  • Tips, tricks and common problems

About the venue

The Yorkshire Grey is a public house and restaurant on the corner of Grays Inn Road and Theobald's Road in Bloomsbury, Camden, London, situated to the north of Gray's Inn. It is a Grade II listed building, built in 1877 by J. W. Brooker.

There will be a 30 minute break for lunch where you can take advantage of a pre-ordered pub meal, visit the surrounding cafes or feel free to eat your own packed lunch.
