About this Event

T-Levels are set to revolutionise vocational training from 2020 and will provide a new choice for 16-18 years alongside A-Levels and Apprenticeships.

T-Levels are 2-year level 3 programmes designed by employers and business and are equivalent to 3 A-Levels. T-levels are larger than current qualifications and will have more teaching time built in to enable students to acquire greater knowledge, skills and behaviours. Students who successfully complete the T-level will be eligible progression onto higher level study at university or via an apprenticeship.

T-Levels offer students a mixture of classroom theory, practical learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience as they are required to complete a substantial industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). The placements will provide students with the opportunity to put their learning and skills into practice, plus further develop their knowledge and experience in a real working environment.

City College Norwich are piloting the industry placements in September 2019 ready for 2021 when Healthcare and Science T- level will be on offer. 20 Students will gain experience in care homes, day centres, community hubs and SEN schools from WC 9th September 2019 and in February 2020 hoping to move to a Clinical Placement. City College are looking for Health and Social organisations who would benefit from industry placements. This would equate to 2 days a week in a Health or Social Care setting between 6 - 12 months.

Hear from case studies and explore the requirements for employers considering offering a student placement.

Key topics to include:

  • DBS check payments
  • Candidates application process – provider involvement?
  • Placement Structure
  • Weekend placements
  • Support from tutors and assessors
