Looking to improve your speaking and leadership skills? Ignite your career? Gain the confidence to speak up? All while having fun at the same time?!
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped over four million people transform their careers and impress their friends & family by becoming more effective communicators and leaders.
Toastmasters is a not for profit organisation dedicated to helping people develop their public speaking and leadership skills. Come join us at a meeting!
Walsall Speakers is a new pre-charter club that launched June 2016. We aim to offer a warm, friendly atmosphere and excellent personal development opportunities. Whatever your goals for speaking in public - whether for work a presentation or conference, a BIG occasion or just personal development - we can help you exceed them!
We meet at The Hub*; Walsall College's Conference Centre. They provide excellent facilities and we grab a drink in the bar at the end of the evening (21:30) to get to know our members and guests better, discuss the evening and be sociable.
*Upon arrival at The Hub building, please confirm with a member of staff on reception the assigned room number for the session, as this can be subject to change.
Car Parking & Transport
Both the Hub and Walsall College provide free car parking. There are also excellent transport links via bus or train, with Walsall Train Station being just a 7 minute walk from the venue.
We are meeting every other Thursday at 19:15 for a 19:30 start and always try to finish prompty at 21:30.
A typical meeting consists of two parts; the Prepared Speeches Session and the Table Topics Session, with Evaluations given for each speaker.
During the Prepared Speeches Session members give speeches on a freely chosen subject, whereas the Table Topics Session gives members (and willing guests) the opportunity to improve ad-hoc speaking.
At every meeting, members are encouraged to take leadership roles, such as timekeeper, grammarian or toastmaster.
Nervous? We can arrange for a 1:1 Mentor!
For those who are nervous about standing up and speaking and want to better control nerves / common fears, you can have a mentor to help you along your development journey. We have members who have been coming for many years and also many new members, each of whom have gained skills throughout their lives and are happy to pass this knowledge on.
