About this event

DEVELOP YOUR WRITING FOR FICTION

Develop your writing for Fiction will be delivered over four online workshops with additional online support from our tutor, Amanda White. On this course you will develop your fiction writing whether for novels or short stories across all genres. We will focus on narrative structure and plots, character development, dialogue, editing and finding opportunities to publish your work or enter competitions. The aim is to build a useful toolkit for you to gain greater confidence and diversity with your fiction writing. Also, crucially, you will have the opportunity to connect and share your thoughts, ideas and work with the tutor Amanda White and the other writers on the course each week and on our Facebook community page. The course will offer online workshops and takeaway prompts alongside personal tutor email contact to help support your writing.

Topics covered include:

  • Plot
  • Developing characters
  • Structure
  • Pitching / getting published

Each workshop will last 2 hours and will take place online via Zoom on the following dates:

Wednesday 1st December 6.30 - 8.30

Wednesday 8th December 6.30 - 8.30

Wednesday 5th January 6.30 - 8.30

Wednesday 19th January 6.30 - 8.30

About the workshop series

Our Develop Your Writing for Fiction Programme is open to everybody - no dress code, no qualifications. We strongly believe everybody is creative, everybody ‘writes’. Writing is what you think, say, see, touch, feel and do - you just need to choose how to express it. These workshops will be fun, engaging and accessible - valuing everyday creativity.

The focus will be on exploring ways to express yourself and find your voice, where your creativity is also part of your well being.

About the Tutor

The workshops will be run by Amanda White Writer (Poet, Children's, Fiction and Travel) and Creative Practitioner with experience in education, healthcare, community and corporate settings and founder of THE DAILY HAIKU, with 11k+ members worldwide, supported by Paper Nations UK and writing for The Great Margin.

Taking part in these workshops, you will have further opportunities for support, feedback and creativity by being part of our Get Creative Community in our Facebook Group where we will also share resources, events and links to other organisations.
