About this event

YCWS are a community woodland group based in Yorkshire, aiming to reconnect people, facilitate community ownership and access to woodland.

Briscoe woods is the small community woodland that the group manages, a few miles to the north of Leeds. Planted as a Millenium Wood by the local community, YCWS was able to lease Briscoe Woods after it was put up for sale by the Woodland Trust. the group have used permaculture principles to develop the woodland for the habitats and people that it supports.

Join us to hear from volunteers from the project about what was involved in getting to this point, how you can get involved in the project now, and what the plans are for the future.

The Leeds Permaculture Network social brings people together to share and learn.

18:00 - 18:30 - arrive, chat, eat a bit of soup.

18:30 - 20:00 - talk from Yorkshire Community Woodland Society, with chance to ask questions and discuss the project at the end

20:00 - 20:15 - please bring any announcements about your project.

20:15 - 21:00 - the networking bit! With help much appreciated to tidy up and leave Imagine Leeds as we found it, then a gradual migration to the pub for those who would like to join.

We would love to hear about your projects and events. If you would like to make a longer announcement, do your own talk or make a request, please let us know.

Leeds Permaculture Network and Yorkshire Community Woodland Society are all recruiting for volutneers at the moment, so get in touch to get involved.

Organised by

Leeds Permaculture Network is a group of people interested in learning about & using permaculture to transform our local environment & living spaces to make a better world for all using nature as our inspiration.

There is no joining fee and no official membership of Leeds Permaculture Network; we are an open network, and everyone is welcome to participate.

We run monthly socials on the first Thursday of the month.

The 3 things we aim for with socials are:

- Network building (courses, projects, friendships, getting involved..)

- Learn something about permaculture

- Develop skills/understanding about a topic

We have a mixture of films, presentations and activities.
