Event Details

This project will provide support for developing the quality of teaching in response to the demands of the new specifications for A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Run in partnership with the Advanced Maths Support Programme (AMSP), this work group will aim to develop existing A Level pedagogy and support development of the requirements of the new A Levels and understand the purpose of the overarching themes in departments.

Participants will gain confidence in leadership in departments and in developing the overarching themes of the new A Levels.

Who is this for?

For Day 1, this would be Heads or Deputy Heads of Department, KS5 Coordinators, Programme Managers or Course Leaders or others with a similar role. For Days 2-4, this could be the above alongside other colleagues from the department dependent on experience and identified needs in the department. This is not a subject knowledge development programme.

 What is involved?

Through face to face Work Group meeting days participating leaders of A Level teaching (and departmental colleagues on subsequent days to Day 1) will develop their practice to effectively plan sequences of lessons which meet the requirements of the new A level, raise awareness in students of the links between mathematical topics within the new A level content and support colleagues in their own schools/colleges in embedding themes from the course in their planning and delivery of new A level teaching.

The programme runs over a series of dates:

  • Tuesday 12th February 2019 9.30am – 4pm at
