Developing Compassion | Meditation Course | 6-week

ABOUT THE COURSE

Are you feeling tired of living in a world full of anger and stress? A place where there is no space for people to be kind and honest with one another? Then join us for this wonderful course that will help you open your heart through a series of deep meditations: Loving Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity. Treat yourself to a bit of compassion, for you, your friends and relatives, for everyone.Suitable for getting started with Buddhist study and for those who want to refresh their understanding. People of any faith or background are welcome.



COURSE DATES

  • 1st Day - Introduction to bodhicitta and two guided meditations, the first following the "seven-point cause and effect method" and the second following the equalizing and exchanging self for others method - around 25 minutes each.
  • 2nd Day - Introduction to the Pabonka's eleven-step method and two meditation on equanimity - around 25 minutes each
  • 3rd Day- Focus on how to develop a deep affection for all living beings, with three meditations sessions - around 20 minutes each
  • 4th Day- Inspirational quotes and poetry from the Masters of the traditions will help to deepen further develop the cultivation of a deep affection for all living beings and with three meditations sessions - around 20 minutes each
  • 5th Day - Focus on taking and giving, with two meditations sessions on taking and giving on the breath - around 25 minutes each
  • 6th Day - Focus on the result, the attainment of bodhicitta, the mind of enlightenment, using inspiring quotes, poetry and stories. Two meditations sessions on the special intention for taking responsibility for making the happiness of all beings happen - around 25 minutes each.

6-week course

  • 1st Term Jan 8 -15 - 22- 29 Feb 5- 12
  • 2nd Term 26 Feb - Mar 5 - 12 - 26 Apr 9- 16

N.B. The same course is repeated every 6-week, so no prob if you missed a class. You can catch up on the next course!

Suitable for getting started with Buddhist study and for those who want to refresh their understanding. People of any faith or background are welcome.


COURSE LEADER

Gerard Cummins

Gerry has been a student at Jamyang Buddhist Centre for 17 years and leading meditation sessions at the Centre for 5 years. He has very caring attitude and does all he can to ensure that students feel comfortable and confident in their practice. Gerry has also trained in Yoga, Chi Gong, Tai Chi and is a Massage Therapist.


BOOKING INFO

There is no need to book in advance.

Suggested Donation: £48 full course or £10 per class. No-one will be turned away due the lack of funds.
