Developing Defra's Environmental Noise Modelling System

Welcome to our online event where we will be discussing the latest updates on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Environmental Noise Modelling System.

Defra’s new noise modelling system recently won the Analysis in Government Award for Innovation.

This presentation will take you through the process for scoping, designing, piloting and building the final innovative system, and its applications and crossovers with wider government policy.

The session will highlight unexpected pitfalls encountered along the way and how they were overcome and identify the wide range of analysts and other professions that helped to deliver the final model.

It will then set out how the team hope to develop the model in future in terms of data-sharing and policy assessments. Dial in for the opportunity to learn from analysts at the cutting edge of noise modelling systems!

Learning outcomes

The function brings together all members of the analytical professions as well as anyone or any team that produces analysis, evidence and research to support decision making in government.

The function does not remove the professional identities of each individual profession. It brings them together to be greater than the sum of its parts and to make efficiencies.
