These two interactive sessions will equip you with all you need to teach and lead Global Citizenship within Learning for Sustainability.

About this event

Please note this is a two part session:

Tuesday 24th May and Tuesday 31st May 2022

These online sessions are jam packed with practical and fun ways to introduce Global Citizenship themes into your primary classroom!

What is Global Citizenship? Why does it matter? How can you introduce the idea of Global Citizenship to primary age learners in a sensitive and engaging way?

Global Citizenship is a framework to equip learners for critical and active engagement with the challenges and opportunities of life in a fast-changing and interdependent world.

This course is designed to help you understand the place of Global Citizenship within Scottish education's Learning for Sustainability (LfS) agenda.

You will receive a resource list to take away, along with new ideas for both practitioners and school leaders to embed Global Citizenship within a Rights-based approach to Learning for Sustainability in the Primary curriculum in Scotland.

Across the two session we will:- Explore the key issues of our time and how LfS and Global Citizenship supports learners to navigate these- Examine where LfS and GC sit within educational policy- Try out some methodologies to help develop the skills and values of Global Citizenship with learners- Share a wide variety of resources to help us embed GC in our schools

Joining instructions will be emailed to you from Eventbrite a few days before the event. This course will be held on Zoom to make use of the interactive capabilities of this platform. We recommend using a computer rather than a hand held device (phone or tablet) so you can fully participate in the interactive elements of the course. Depending on your Local Authority, it might be easier to access the course on your own personal computer rather than a council one.

All 32 local authority areas in Scotland are covered by a DEC – for full details, including locations and how to contact your local DEC, please visit ideas-forum.org.uk/about-us/decs.

Data Protection

When you undertake free professional learning with the Scottish DECs we will continue to hold your information until this Scottish Government funded programme concludes. This is in line with the GDPR legitimate interest provision. We will always strive to be fair, transparent and lawful in the way we hold or use your information.
