Description

Help build Healthy Working Relationships in NHS Wales

What is this?

A chance for every one of us in NHS Wales to help design how we can best support healthy working relationships. We hope as many of us as possible can share what we think healthy relationships are, how we build and maintain them and what policies, learning and development and other support would have us all.

Why are we doing this?

Our workplaces are fundamentally just a series of relationships. The quality of our interactions with each other determines our own wellbeing but also the quality and effectiveness of the services we provide to others. Simply put, healthy working relationships help us be well and they help the people we serve be as well as they can be.

Healthy working relationships are not about everyone “just getting on”. We know that is neither possible nor desirable, as disagreeing well is vital for healthy workplaces. We also know that our working relationships are not always healthy, as our Staff Survey Results show. Unhealthy working relationships reduces our wellbeing and means that our service users will have a significantly worse experience and service.

What are we trying to achieve?

Our approach is to collaboratively create an understanding of what healthy working relationships mean across NHS Wales and then create and take every opportunity to support these. This includes ensuring appropriate learning and development, creating resources and replacing policies such as Dignity at Work.

How can we each get involved now?

1) Give our thoughts online

2) Being part of our regional (cross-organisation) workshops:

  • 5th November (1-5) Carmarthen
  • 7th November (9:30-1) North Wales
  • 19th November (1:30-5 PM) HEIW, Nantgarw
  • 25th November (9:30-1) Merthyr Tydfil

Please contact james.moore2@wales.nhs.uk to book your place

3) Being part of a conversation/workshop in our own organisation

Your feedback will help create a collaborative approach based on your experiences and ideas which supports healthy working relationships which will include a new policy and appropriate supporting learning and tools.
