The fresh food division of Tmall.com (Alibaba’s consumer-facing platform) allows global imports to reach the vast Chinese market. Several outstanding marketing programs for products like Canadian lobster have captured the imagination of the Chinese consumer. Clearwater, an MSC certified fishery, has taken advantage of this demand by opening a flagship store on Tmall. Similarly, many Chinese companies are making use of their global connections to sell a wide range of seafood on Tmall’s platform. Zoneco, the first MSC-certified Chinese fishery, complements its offline operations with a Tmall flagship store. MSC has provided support to many Chinese organizations that are considering adding sustainability into the core of their supply-chain management.
