TUESDAY 25TH APRIL 1.15.p.m. - 5.00.p.m.





This interactive and experiential workshop will commence with 2 formal presentations. The first is a “Journey Story” of how the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYFT) are implementing Systems Working via Inclusive Leadership and Values-led Management practices within the trust which provides Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Community Services. The second is from Primetals Technologies Ltd and focuses on the Business Improvement Managers' experience in bringing together OD and Lean methodologies to change performance and behaviours.

The event will explore aspects of OD within both the Public and Private Sectors and will be of interest to OD and HR Practitioners and Consultants working both from within and outside organisations

Following the presentation there will be round table discussions facilitated by the members of the presentation team together with representatives of Sheffield Hallam University and CIPD, to discuss and interchange ideas which can contribute to the effectiveness of Organisation development and other interventions.


Outline Structure/Content.

1.15.p.m. - Coffee/Tea

1.30.p.m. - Introduction and outline of Objectives/Links to current Research with Lynne Booth Sheffield Hallam University

1.40.p.m. - Exploring the OD/Change Journey with Andrew Cribbis Head of Leadership and Management Development (SWYFT)

2.30.p.m. - Exploring OD and Lean working with Paul Wainwright Business Improvement Manager - Primetals Technologies Ltd

3.20.p.m. - Coffee/Tea  Structured Networking to establish groupings for subsequent “open table” discussions.

3.25.p.m   “Open table” discussions round issues developed from the earlier presentations, informed by the following questions:-

  • What further questions do we have about the stories today
  • What can we learn from the OD interventions made and results achieved so far
  • What insights can we share with both presenters from our own OD practices.
  • What am I/we taking from today that is helpful/.useful for my /our OD Practice

ANDREW CRIBBIS - Andrew is currently Head of Leadership and Management development at the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYFT).  Prior to joining the HNS Andrew worked both in the UK and internationally within the Cabinet Office at the National School of Government, he also co-ordinated CIPD qualification and Positive Action programmes at the University of Huddersfield, prior to this he ran a successful business in the retail sector.  Andrew has an MSc in Organisation Development and Consultancy from Sheffield Hallam University.

PAUL WAINWRIGHT - Paul is currently the Business Improvement Manager at Primetals Technologies Limited based at Sheffield Business Park which is a joint venture of Siemans, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Partners GB QM. Paul has an MSc in Organisation and Consultancy, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and is currently studying an MBA here at Sheffield Hallam University

LYNNE BOOTH - Lynne is a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at the Sheffield Hallam University Business School. Much of her work is in corporate development, Lynne works with clients from the NHS, Local Government, the Police and the Private sector. Lynne also works as a development adviser to the University and is an Executive Coach, she has an MSc in Organisation Development and is a Chartered member of the CIPD and acts as Policy Adviser for the CIPD South Yorkshire Branch.

CIPD South Yorkshire and District Branch

We are the South Yorkshire & District Branch of CIPD - the professional body for HR and people development. The not-for-profit organisation champions better work and working lives and has been setting the benchmark for excellence in people and organisation development for more than 100 years.

We offer a range of events and services to HR and L&D professionals as well as the wider business community.
