Sports and business are both quintessentially high performance environments sharing the same requirements for leadership, teamwork and a high performance mindset. Yet the corporate world has yet to achieve the systematic performance improvement that elite athletes so often demonstrate. Our expert panel shares the findings of our forthcoming white paper, highlights the parallels that may be drawn and lessons for leadership.
Dr Rick Parry
At University of Liverpool Rick serves on the Foundation Leadership Team, the Management School Advi Chairman (ULMS Advisory Board) Rick Parry has had a successful and varied career where he has impacted The Football Association by recommending the formation of what would become the FA Premier League. The recommendation quickly found favour with top professional clubs and in 1991 Rick became the first Chief Executive of the fledgling league. Notably Rick devised a formula to enable the sharing of TV revenues amongst clubs which is unchanged after 20 years.

Prof Sue Bridgewater
Sue has authored and edited a number of books including Innovation in Marketing, with Professor Peter Doyle, Since joining Liverpool University Management School, Sue has taught Becoming a Football Executive, Sports Marketing and Sponsorship and co directing the internship programme for the Football Industries MBA (FiMBA); has taught Media, Marketing and Sponsorship on the Thoroughbred Horseracing Industries MBA and runs executive education courses for University of Liverpool Management School across a range of international markets. Sue is Director of the Centre for Sports Business and Director of Executive Education
