Please join us at The Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, where we will be discussing the disruptive power that is Blockchain technology with leading practitioners and start-up companies.

The Blockchain represents the Second Coming of the Internet where its applications are only limited by our imaginations. At this event attendees will start to understand the infinite ways the technology can be applied.


6pm - 6.30pm: Reception

6.30pm - 7pm: Blockchain 101 with Dr Robert Learney

Dr Learney co-founded the Imperial College Cryptocurrency Research centre with Prof. William Knottenbelt and Dr. Catherine Mulligan. Dr Learney has an interest in the potential transformative powers of Distributed Ledger Technology in diverse areas such as healthcare, financial services and Internet of Things.


7pm - 7.30pm: Blockchain Business Case Review with Dr Maria Vigliotti from Sandblocks (Blockchain consultancy).

Dr Vigliotti has 10 + years of experience in security in both academia and in various industries. She is co-founder of Sandblocks, a company advising on adoption of blockchain and cybersecurity. Currently she is an advisor for the European Data Science Academy, which enables the EU to stay ahead of innovation. She is the technical and security advisor for a funded start-up called Gradbase, which inserts degrees on the blockchain enabling companies to instantaneously verify candidates’ university credentials.


7.30pm - 8pm: Blockchain Company Insights - Panel Discussion

Panel Chair: Dr Garrick Hileman - An economic historian at the Centre for Alternative Finance at the University of Cambridge he was recently ranked as one of the 100 most influential economists in the UK and Ireland.

Phillip Jarman: UK Director and Chief Commercial Officer at BenBen International Limited

BenBen is a digital land transaction and information platform that uses Blockchain technology to provide Governments, Financial Institutions and the general public with instant access to property information through an easy to use searchable interface.

Hazem Danny Al-Nakib: Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Advisor at Humaniq

Humaniq aims to provide mobile finance to the 2 billion unbanked population through its mobile app that uses biometric authentication to replace traditional methods of ID and security. It is is an Ethereum-based blockchain banking app building the next generation model for financial services.
